Software provider Play’n GO diced with destiny in 2014, when the studio released Lady of Fortune, and felt, 10 years later, that the time was right to drop the revamped version Lady of Fortune Remastered. It was largely a cosmetic upgrade since Remastered offered many of the same mechanical aspects, such as its specific pay mechanic, the pick-a-prize, and wild multipliers. Its flat gameplay and weak numbers did not translate to a high score, but Lady of Fortune Remastered must have hit the right fortune-telling note with the right number of gamblers because Play’n GO has peered into the crystal ball once again to produce Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins.
As well as some mechanical changes, the decor has been shifted around. There are more candles than before, for one thing, fewer skulls. The mysterious Lady of Fortune resides behind the reel set, so players can pretend they’ve sat down to have their fortune read to them as the lady peers into a crystal ball with her piercing green eyes. Like Lady of Fortune Remastered, Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins looks and sounds a lot more up-to-date than the original, which you would hope and expect to see more than a decade down the track. Played on a 5×3 gaming grid, one of the most interesting things about Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins is that winning combinations pay left to right, right to left, and in the middle, on adjacent reels. This means wins can begin from the leftmost, rightmost, and second reel onwards – across 15 paylines. As before, this is a low-medium volatile machine with the same maximum RTP of 96.2%. The stake range has been altered, though, so it is now possible to bet from 15c to $/€60 on each base game spin.
Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins’ eight pay symbols are a moon, a goblet, scales, a crown or dagger, an eyeball ring, a potion bottle, and a book. Very mysterious they are, too, while paying up to 3.33x to 25x the bet for a 5-of-a-kind winning line.
Pick Prize
Every non-winning spin has the chance of triggering the Pick Prize. When triggered, players pick a card to reveal a prize worth 5x, 10x, or 100x their bet.
Wild Multiplier
Wild symbols are present on the middle reel, and they substitute for anything except the scatter. During the base game, wilds may come with an x2, x3, or x5 multiplier that multiplies the formed line wins.
Destiny Spins
Hitting 3 scatters in the base game grants 12 Destiny Spins. This feature may be retriggered by landing 3 scatters to win a further +6 Destiny Spins – up to a maximum of 80 spins. During the round, wilds are upgraded so they may come with a multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5, or x10.
Gamble Feature
Following wins, players may be able to gamble their prize for a chance to increase the payout. Correctly guessing the colour or suit of a face-down card doubles or quadruples the win, respectively. The gamble can be played up to five times or up to a limit of 165x the bet.
Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins: Slot Verdict
As previously noted, Lady of Fortune Remastered was not a high-scoring game, and it’s hard to see Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins bucking that trend a whole lot. Play’n GO has expanded the action by adding a free spins round, giving the game a more climactic destination to aim for rather than just repeatedly hitting spin in an attempt to trigger a Pick Prize or a wild multiplied win. The issue is that the free spins feature is lacklustre, simply being the base game but with a possibility of getting a larger max wild multiplier value of x10 compared to the main game’s top x5. This is admittedly more desirable than finding the Grim when reading tea leaves in a cup during one of Professor Trelawney’s Divination classes, but still. The Pick a Prize feature ultimately feels more like an annoyance than a thrill, seemingly absorbing RTP and making the already underwhelming free spins feature harder to trigger.
On the positive side, players who want to try their luck in a mysterious environment that hints at the esoteric side of life and aren’t bothered about the rest might find Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins alright. Perhaps players who were drawn to the likes of Rich Wilde and the Tome of Insanity but found it a touch too freaky might be enticed, not to mention those who were seduced by Lady of Fortune Remastered or even the original. For willing participants, there is more to possibly win than in the last game, though the potential of 1,950x the bet isn’t impressive, nor is the max win probability very encouraging.
While admitting a lack of psychic powers, the prediction is that Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins isn’t set to cause a sensation amongst the online gambling community. Ready-made fans should be satisfied with the free spins expansion which Play’n GO has included, yet it’s hard to foresee players with greater demands lining up to have their palms read by Lady of Fortune Destiny Spins.
